REAL Inner Calm
Yes, meditation is amazing for calming our nervous system and helping us feel grounded and at peace. But as humans, we experience MANY different physical, mental and emotional states and it's important that we welcome ALL of who we are and not only cling to one state that feels good. If we do, we will be constantly pushing away other states of being (that help us grow and evolve) and it will eventually exhaust us, leaving us feeling lost or stuck.
One of the core teachings of meditation is about welcoming ALL of who we are, just as we are. When you can connect to this and accept it, this is the REAL inner calm. When we can learn to ride the waves of life, we can face challenging situations, not from a limited/reactive self, but from a more open, relaxed space of inner wisdom.
From here, our hearts take the lead and we live with more understanding and grace.
So if you practice meditation and have walked away feeling more frustrated than calm, next time, try practicing with more acceptance and see how it may shift any tension you are feeling.
