The Importance of BELONGING.

Research shows that belonging is a fundamental part of being human. We are communal beings and without feeling the sense of belonging, people are more likely to feel depressed and have health problems. We are hardwired to crave belonging. A recent MIT study found we crave interactions in the same region of our brains where we crave food!

In the 10 years that I've been hosting circles and gatherings, I've truly realized the importance of belonging and how it can transform a person's life. It's not really about what moon phase it is or where the retreat will be, but it's about the community we cultivate and being in a safe space to show up as your truest self. It's about being able to get vulnerable and see others do the same. It's about accepting people for who they are and all that they are going through without judgement. It's about being really seen and heard.
And it's about coming together for a greater cause where we feel we have a purpose, together.

For me personally, growing up, the feeling of belonging was not easy for me. I moved a lot as a child and I often felt alone. But I don't regret any of it because I learned so much and it's fueled my passion to build community, be deeply empathetic, and make everyone feel welcome.

What has become very clear after my recent Tulum Retreat is that our humanity needs more safe spaces to connect with others and feel a sense of belonging, now more than ever. This is going to be a big focus of mine moving forward and I'm calling on those that want to join me on this venture. :)

How do YOU think you can create a better sense of belonging in your life? What would that look like? Send me a note! I'd love to hear.
